WOW (3)--Texas Gothic

My poor neglected blog. First, school is out for the summer but then summer reading hit at the library and well, we know what that is like. I am, however, on va-cay, so I am reading like a fool. Expect loads of reviews. Bad news, internet is spotty here so I am uploading them to the best of my ability. So. WOW. Check out this cover! And a ghost story, I am SO in the mood for a ghost story right now. I have had this one in my Goodreads TBR list for awhile, and I just read a great interview with Clement-Moore in Bookpage that made me wish it was in my hands right now. The good news is that it comes out July 12th, so not that long of a wait! Bad news, library did not order it (yet). Sigh.

WOW- Waiting On Wednesday (2)

I have missed Lia Habel TWICE! First, she was at the Steampunk World's Fair on Sunday (after I left) and she was at BEA on a day I could not attend. Alas, I wait patiently for this title which marries steampunk, zombies, and awesomeness. I think I have had this one on the TBR list since Badass Bookie interviewed her (when was that, January?) Picture snagged from "That's Swell" Blog, where it was also featured as a WOW. What a pretty blog! Check it out ! Warning, it takes forever to load-at least, it did for me today.

My New Obsession-MNO!

I have decided to feature a new meme: My New Obsession (MNO). The idea is that we can share what we are into right NOW. This changes all of the time with me, and I suspect you too, so let's let our freak flags fly and show me what you are all excited about! Music: I can't get enough of " Pumped Up Kicks " by Foster the People. The library has not bought the cd, so I am pondering the expense of ordering the MP3 download from Amazon. Every time I do this, the library buys the cd a week later. Perhaps they are spying on my account.... Books: Release Your Inner Geek I have read and loved two books this year so far that are just love songs to the inner geek. Among Others by Jo Walton is about a young girl whose reality is just terrible, and she gets through it by reading science fiction novels and by practicing magic. This is one of the most original books I have read in years. My review is here . My other (new) fave is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I saw it at BEA,

WOW- Waiting On Wednesday

This is my first ever WOW post, I am not sure why I have waited so long.... La! Let me present, EVE the book I third most wanted from BEA but could not get because they released it on Thursday. Sigh. Here's a bit of the premise from Goodreads: The year is 2032, sixteen years after a deadly virus—and the vaccine intended to protect against it—wiped out most of the earth’s population. Wildlife has grown over once recognizable landmarks, and the New America is ruled by a controlling King who will stop at nothing to rebuild the nation—including enslaving its boys and turning its girls into broodmares.
